Re-elect WILLIE POPP for Ward 4 Councillor

From building a career in business to serving on Council, my focus has always been on listening, working collaboratively, and delivering practical results for the people I represent.

Experience That Matters. Leadership That Delivers.

Get To Know Willie / Support

My wife and I moved to Uxbridge in 2015, and we quickly fell in love with everything our community has to offer. We were drawn to the welcoming community, the incredible local businesses and restaurants, and Uxbridge's reputation as The Trail Capital of Canada. What we didn't expect was how quickly we would feel like we belonged.

Before serving on Council, I built a career spanning more than 18 years in the consumer-packaged goods industry, working in sales and marketing for large publicly traded companies. That experience taught me how to build relationships, negotiate complex agreements, manage budgets, solve problems, and deliver results on time and within budget. Most importantly, it taught me that success starts with listening and putting people first.

These lessons continue to guide me as your Councillor.

Serving our community has been one of the greatest privileges of my life. Whether responding to residents' concerns, making responsible financial decisions, or ensuring taxpayers receive the greatest value from every dollar invested, I believe local government should be practical, transparent, and focused on delivering results.

I'm proud of what we've accomplished together over the past eight years, but I also know there is more work to do. As I seek re-election, I remain committed to listening, working collaboratively, and making thoughtful decisions that reflect the priorities of Ward 4 residents while preserving the small-town character that makes Uxbridge such a special place to call home.

It would be an honour to earn your support for a third term.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

Beyond my responsibilities on Council, I remain actively involved in organizations that help strengthen our community and preserve the natural and cultural assets that make Uxbridge unique.

My Priorities

MAKING DOWNTOWN A DESTINATION

Downtown Uxbridge is the heart of our community.

INVESTING IN ROADS & INFRASTRUCTURE

Reliable infrastructure is one of the Township's most important responsibilities

GROWING OUR LOCAL ECONOMY

A strong local economy is vital to keeping Uxbridge vibrant and prosperous.

STRENGTHENING COMMUNICATION & TRANSPARENCY

One of the topics I hear about most often from residents is communication.

BUILDING AN ACCESSIBLE COMMUNITY

Accessibility is about creating a community where everyone feels welcome.

My Second Term (2022–2026)

Building on my experience, I have continued to provide steady leadership while helping deliver major community investments, strengthen our downtown, and plan responsibly for Uxbridge's future.s

I was honoured to be acclaimed for a second term on Council in 2022, reflecting the confidence placed in me by our community. I have continued to approach this role as a full-time commitment, remaining accessible to residents while working to ensure Council's decisions reflect the best interests of our township today and for the future.

Building on my experience gained during my first term, I continued to serve on many of the same committees and boards, allowing me to contribute with greater insight and effectiveness while also taking on new leadership responsibilities. During this term, I transitioned from Chair of Public Works and Active Transportation to Chair of Finance before returning to Public Works, contributing to both the Township's long-term financial sustainability and the delivery of essential infrastructure and municipal services.

I was honoured to serve as Deputy Mayor for more than half of my time on Council. Representing Uxbridge in this role strengthened my leadership experience and provided the opportunity to advocate for our community, ensuring our residents’ interests were well represented.

One of my continuing priorities has been the revitalization of downtown Uxbridge. As the initiative evolved from a community working group into a formal Committee of Council, I remained committed to ensuring the vision continued to move forward. With the successful completion of the Brock Street Culvert project, our focus has shifted toward creating a vibrant future Town Square—a welcoming public space that will become the heart of our community, bringing residents and visitors together while supporting festivals, events, tourism, and economic growth.

Council has also continued investing in important community infrastructure, including new tennis and pickleball courts, a modern animal shelter, a new swimming pool, a new salt storage facility, and other capital projects that will serve residents well into the future.

Throughout this term, I have continued to advocate for our Business Improvement Area, local businesses, tourism, and continuous improvement across municipal operations. As I seek re-election, my commitment remains the same: to listen, lead with integrity, make thoughtful decisions, and continue building a stronger, more vibrant Uxbridge while protecting the small-town character that makes our community such a wonderful place to call home.

My First Term (2026–2022)

My first term was defined by leadership through unprecedented challenges, a commitment to responsive municipal government, and earning the trust of both Council and the community.

When I first ran for Council, I believed our community deserved a representative who would be fully engaged and available to residents. I was honoured to be elected as your Ward 4 Councillor and embraced the responsibilities of an extensive committee and board portfolio, while helping lead several significant municipal projects.

In 2019, I was appointed Alternate Mayor to serve in the Mayor's absence when required. The following year, Council entrusted me with the role of Deputy Mayor, a position I would continue to serve for much of the next term.

My first term also coincided with some of the most challenging moments in our community's history. As a member of the Township's Emergency Operations Centre, I worked alongside the Mayor, Chief Administrative Officer, municipal staff, emergency services, and community partners throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. In May 2022, when a devastating tornado struck downtown Uxbridge, I was again part of the emergency leadership team, helping coordinate the municipal response and support our residents, businesses, and recovery efforts.

Those experiences reinforced what public service is all about—showing up, working collaboratively, making informed decisions under pressure, and putting the needs of our community first. I remain proud of the work we accomplished together and am committed to continuing to provide the experienced, steady, and dedicated leadership that Uxbridge deserves.
